I work as a Consultant in the Lerwick Office in Shetland. My responsibilities include providing advice and business development support to around 400 clients consisting of a combination of farmers, crofters, and sector related businesses. The bulk of our day-to-day work in Lerwick is focused on providing farming businesses with the technical support they need to develop and grow, access support payments and grants, and demonstrate compliance. I also regularly deal with a variety of crofting regulatory work. I grew up in Shetland, and have a strong background in Marketing, Food and Drink, Sustainable Rural Tourism Development and Business diversification. I have worked with our local regional food group and industry facing regional tourism development body. Â
Before moving back home in 2020 I lived in Italy for 17 years where I worked as a Technical Translator and Inercultural Business Development Consultant. I worked with a broad portfolio of businesses in Food and Drink, Agritourism, Wine, Cultural Heritage, and Railway Infrastructure and my role was to help businesses attract foreign clients or investment and/or to help them achieve their internationalisation goals. During my time there I also worked as a university lecturer, developing and delivering a three-year BA degree course in Italian-English translation and specialist CPD training for Business Internationalisation in the Food and Drink, Rural Tourism and Wine sectors. I am a qualified sommelier and have a keen interest in the use of quality assurance and provenance schemes as marketing tools to drive rural development. Â
Since joining SAC Consulting I have collaborated widely across the organisation participating in a range of research projects with Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ colleagues, delivering bespoke consultancy for community growing projects in Shetland with Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ colleagues, and helping to create and deliver articles, events and video content for the Scottish Government’s Farm Advisory Service (FAS).
